Amelia Earhart

Hannah portrayed Amelia Earhart as her American Hero. Heroes came to life in the 5th grade last Friday. The students were all scattered around the cafeteria in a wax museum format dressed in their American Hero attire. Guests could hear the students' speeches by pressing a red button on each figure's palm.

So much preparation and research went into the students' hero essays and speeches. In a couple weeks, all the heroes will participate in the district wide "Celebrate American Heroes" to be held at the High School. Hannah was chosen by her teacher as one of the representatives that will give her speech in front of all on this day.

Almost 3 years ago (on MY birthday) we made a trip to Atchison, KS to see Amelia Earhart's birth home. Ever since then it's been really neat to know about Amelia's life and to oh so wonder what really happened to Amelia on her last flight around the world....

A special lunch of Hero Sandwiches are being served on the special Hero day....what a fun filled unit it has been. Hannah's picture was also shown on the home page of her district's school web site...we are so proud of our Hannah aka Amelia!!!
